Welcome to the website of Miami State School
Welcome to the Miami Primary School website. We are an inclusive school catering for students from Preparatory to Year 7, providing a comprehensive and high quality curriculum.
Miami Primary has its own Special Education Program as well as Queensland’s best, primary school based, dedicated Talented Sports Program. Miami State School optimises every student’s opportunity to achieve their potential. Students may display talents in specific areas not necessarily academic. Our vision for our students who are gifted is that they are valued in a learning environment which both challenges and supports them to pursue excellence and develop a passion for life long learning. Our Programs allow each student to excel in their individual area. Click here for details about our Gifted & Talented Programs.
Our school seeks to offer an abundance of extension activities rarely found in the primary setting such as a science lab and wet-process darkroom and is undergoing an extensive building program to ensure facilities meet the needs of a growing community. We have recently identified a growing need for parents with children younger than Preparatory age and now offer a free ‘Move and Groove’ dance program on Monday mornings.
Our school takes a holistic approach to education. We are focussed on assisting each student to reach their academic potential as well as developing their own social confidence and responsibility. We take pride in the fact that we are a community-based school not only surrounded by elite-level sporting facilities but active and involved families. It is a place where lasting friendships are established.
This website is designed to provide a practical and informative view of our school but by no means replaces personal contact. Please browse at your leisure but also feel free to contact us at any time.

MIAMI BOOK FAIR
Our school is hosting the annual Scholastic Book Fair to celebrate the NATIONAL YEAR OF READING. A Book
Fair is a great way to get your child reading — but we need your help!
This year's theme is 'Showtime". We have some exciting competitions and artistic activities planned so please
feel free to come along and join in the fun. Competitions will include;
• Guess how many books sold at our Book Fair?
• Ticket-to-read
• Best decorated classroom door
There will be a classroom wish list for your class teacher to list the books they would like for their classroom
library.
Your child will bring home your Book Fair 'Showtime" invitation, which contains more information about some
of the books that will be available.
The novelties are always a big hit with the children and will be on sale from Tuesday 5th June at 8.30am.
We would love volunteers to help with decorating, helping children fill in their wish lists, sales and tidying up.
The Fair provides a wonderful opportunity for children to find exciting new books to read as well as being our
major fund raiser for purchasing new books for our School. Children are more likely to read books they
personally choose. The wide variety of choices offered at our Book Fair ensures that there will be something for
everyone!
I look forward to seeing you at our 'Showtime' Book Fair.
